Low Pressure Die Casting Technology

This three-day seminar provides fundamental knowledge of low pressure die casting (LPDC) through both theoretical instruction and practical exercises.

Content

Theoretical Part

  • Fundamentals of the LPDC process, process variants, and casting curve calculation
  • LPDC alloys (applications, metallurgy, melt treatment, DIN 1706)
  • Design for die casting
  • Core production and sand testing
  • Simulation as a tool for a stable LPDC process; thermal design of LPDC dies

Practical Part

  • Melt preparation and routine quality analyses (UDIP, K-Mold, thermal analysis)
  • Casting of LPDC components on the ÖGI LPDC machine
  • Process optimization and methods for detecting and preventing casting defects
  • Metallographic examination of produced components; radioscopy
  • Sand testing in the ÖGI moulding material laboratory
  • Evaluation and discussion of results

Target Group

Project managers, shift supervisors, design engineers, machine setters, career changers, casting users

Completion

Certificate, short final examination, mandatory attendance
