As part of the ÖGI foundry offensive, this time the company GF Casting Solutions Altenmarkt GmbH & Co. KG was visited. The company was founded in 1972 and taken over by GF Casting Solutions in 1999. The company is one of 13 GF Casting Solutions production sites around the world. With around 500 employees, the company is a major regional employer in the light metal die casting sector in Austria. The site specialises in magnesium and aluminium die-casting solutions for the international automotive industry.
After a comprehensive presentation of the two current ÖGI projects MaCSus and ACAPELLA, the participants exchanged views on the project topics and cooperation opportunities with Horst Rockenschaub and other Georg Fischer technicians. This was followed by a detailed tour of the entire site. Finally, the current situation in the automotive sector and its effects on suppliers and research institutes were discussed.
